Pickering is Durham Region’s most westward city. The drive from Pickering to Toronto is about 40 minutes. It borders Toronto and Markham to the West, Uxbridge to the North, and Ajax/Whitby to the East.
Durham Region Transit and GO Transit service the city. Pickering has one GO train station stop, which provides a comfortable and relaxing commute to Toronto. The city is accessible by both the 401 and the 407 ETR.
Durham Live is currently under construction in Pickering. Durham Live is an entertainment and tourism complex with attractions like a casino, convention Centre, restaurants, cinemas, and an indoor water park. It will add nearly 10,000 jobs to the Durham Region Economy.
Pickering is known for its beautiful waterfront. The waterfront includes Alex Robertson Park, Beachfront Park, and Frenchman’s Bay. In addition, Pickering has an extensive network of paths and trails perfect for walking, biking, running, or hiking.
The city has several elementary, public and private schools. Post-secondary education in the area includes the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, York University, Ryerson University, and Durham College.
