Whitby is located about 45 min from downtown Toronto. The town borders Ajax to the West, Pickering to the northwest, Scugog to the North, and Oshawa to the east.

The town is serviced by Durham Region Transit and GO Transit. It has one train stop and is accessible by both the 401 and the 407 ETR.

Whitby has a beautiful waterfront and is home to the Port Whitby Marina. It has approximately 13 km of trails that are ideal for cycling, walking or running.

There are many elementary, public, and private schools. Post-secondary education in the area includes the University of Ontario Institute of Technology, York University, Ryerson University, and Durham College.
